Twice as nice – Frenchgate scoops two national awards

Staff are celebrating at Frenchgate Shopping Centre Doncaster after scooping a double whammy of national awards.

The shopping centre has once again been given the Park Mark® – marking over a decade of accreditation by the national scheme – while the centre has also received a top industry award for the cleanliness of their Gallery toilets.

The Safer Parking Scheme is a national standard for UK car parks that have low crime and measures in place to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

The Park Mark®, the accredited logo of Safer Parking Scheme, is given to parking facilities that have achieved the challenging standards and requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association.

Assessments cover areas including management and maintenance, surveillance levels, lighting, signage and cleanliness – all known to reduce the opportunity for crime and create a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.

Meanwhile a platinum award, the highest accolade achievable, was given to Frenchgate at the Loo of the Year awards.

Independently run for 30 years, the awards aim to encourage and recognise the highest possible standards in all types of ‘away from home’ washrooms.

Everything from the quality of the air, to the amount of toilet roll, was strictly assessed by a team of judges during an inspection of Frenchgate’s male and female facilities, as well as baby changing areas.

Paddy Mellon, general manager at Frenchgate, said: “Achieving the Park Mark® recognition for the twelfth consecutive year as well as a platinum award from the Loo of the Year is double the good news for us.

“From dining out, going to the gym or visiting our Art Space, visiting Frenchgate is more than just shopping and we care about our customers’ entire overall experience.

“Park Mark® gives retailers and customers the confidence that we are operating to a national standard when it comes to important areas like surveillance, pedestrian and vehicle access, cleanliness, and staff training.

“We get emails and letters all the time from customers telling us how incredibly impressed at how lovely and clean our toilet facilities are so to have this certified with a national accolade is brilliant.

“It’s thanks to the enormous dedication of our two cleaners, Ann Betts and Fiona Brown, supported by Annette Shepherd and Dawn Myers, who all take a huge amount of pride in their jobs, and work tirelessly to maintain our high standards of hygiene.”
