Waterstones unveils latest concept store at Sheffueld’s Meadowhall

Waterstones has unveiled its latest store design at Meadowhall this week, upsizing by a third to 4,900 sq ft to showcase the brand’s new concept.

Waterstones’ new Meadowhall store features a contemporary fit-out, incorporating a light coloured timber interior throughout, alongside additional space accommodating a wider range of merchandise, such as gifts, games, diaries and calendars. The store also includes a large area celebrating local writers, poets and history and, to mark the opening, best-selling Barnsley author, Milly Johnson, cut the ribbon and met guests at a book signing.

Paul Ranson, Waterstones Bookshop Manager, said: “We are so proud of our new bookshop and we are excited to welcome our loyal customers back to our revamped store in Meadowhall. Following Meadowhall’s recent transformation, it was important our own brand aligned with the new look and appeal of the centre, and we have worked hard to create an inspiring new store for all the family to visit and enjoy.”

Richard Crowther, Asset Manager for British Land, added: “Waterstones’ investment to create their latest concept store at Meadowhall reflects the wider transformation of the centre. Like Meadowhall, the new store is lighter, brighter and more contemporary, creating an environment that will encourage visitors to dwell for longer and return more often.”

Waterstones joins over 35 new brands who have opened at Meadowhall following the £60 million transformation of the centre.
