A local company’s 100-strong gnome collection has welcomed a shiny new member from a local Volvo retailer.

Ray Chapman Motors, in Malton, has donated a special Volvo gnome to local construction company, Lindum Group, to add to its famous collection.

Debbie Flint, corporate sales manager, gifted the special gnome alongside a fleet of brand new XC60s to David Chambers, managing director of Lindum Group.

The family of gnomes resides in the gardens of Lindum Business Park, and has become synonymous with the company. The late John F Chambers, founder of Lindum Group, had a small collection of gnomes in his garden which were given a home at the site after he passed away.

Since then, the numbers have grown year on year, with many being rescued from skips and brought in by Lindum employees, partners and clients. They have over 100 today and counting, with one new special addition from the company that has supplied them with over 70 Volvo cars.

The grinning gnome, named Norman, has taken his place in the Lindum Group gardens and is poised with a special floppy Ray Chapman Motors cap and Volvo crest, ready to wave at passers-by.

Debbie Flint, corporate sales manager at Ray Chapman Motors, said: “It is such an honour to gift a Volvo gnome to the legendary Lindum Gnome collection.

“We’re so pleased to be part of this 100-year-old tradition and hope to continue to help develop the Lindum Gnome collection for many years to come.

“The Lindum Gnomes are famous across the county, and it is a huge honour to be a part of their legacy.”
