A popular West Yorkshire eatery run by restaurateur Rob Rahman is toasting success after taking its 250,000th booking.
Tingley Balti House opened in 1996 and its speciality authentic Bengali and North Indian cuisine has proved to be a big success with diners over the years.
To mark the milestone, Rob rewarded loyal customers Duncan and Allison Innes with a celebratory three-course banquet. The couple, who live in Tingley, are regular visitors to the restaurant and were the 250,000th customers to make a booking.
The 40 seat restaurant which employs 12 staff including chefs, kitchen staff and waiters, offers an extensive menu including an exclusive range of speciality dishes from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Kashmir. The restaurant also serves up a staggering 2,800 takeaways every month.
Tingley Balti House owner, Rob Rahman said: “We’re very proud to have such a fantastic reputation for quality and service in the area and I still serve customers now who first walked through the door 22 years ago, many of whom I now regard as my friends. We’ve been able to welcome a whole new generation of customers over the years and I’ve even watched some of my customers grow up! It’s great to be such a big part of the local community and to have reached 250,000 bookings reveals just what an epic journey that has been.”
But Rob isn’t taking anything for granted and is constantly innovating. He plans to extend the restaurant later this year, doubling the dining capacity.
He added: “Competition is as tough as it’s ever been so we stay one jump ahead by offering first class food and friendly service to all our guests. We’re keen to show newer establishments that experience counts – food excellence needs to be worked at to guarantee repeat visits. Our chefs are always trying new dishes which mean our customers can count on the freshest ingredients, authentic cooking and beautifully presented food.”
Celebrity fans of Tingley Balti House’s food include premier league referee Martin Atkinson, football pundit Chris Kamara, Leeds Rhinos star Ryan Hall and screen legend Henry Winkler aka The Fonz.
In 22 years, Rob and his team have served up approximately:
