The quality and craftsmanship of a Wirral headquartered commercial painting and decorating company have been singled out for praise in a national trade body awards.

Hankinson Painting Group won the Highly Decorative Category at the 29th annual Premier Trophy Awards, organised by the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA).

Representatives from the company joined others from across the industry to celebrate the achievement at the awards ceremony, held at the London Marriott in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair.

The accolade was given to Hankinson Painting Group for their work at the Napoleon Room of the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight, Wirral, using Johnstone’s paints.

Neil Ogilvie, Chief Executive of the PDA said: “The judging panel described the quality of work and craftsmanship involved as outstanding.

“Light and brightness has been brought back into the building and the work involved has enhanced the environment.”

The work was carried out for National Museums and Galleries, Liverpool.

Hankinson Painting Group Operations Director Ivor Thomas received the award. He said: “The intricate painting restoration carried out by our Highly Decorative Team included trompe l’oeil, which means literally ‘trick of the eye’, faux panels and dado rails to frame some of their treasured furniture and artwork pieces, as well as painted marble effect.

“Visitors to the Gallery have struggled to tell the difference between real marble and the marble effect carried out by our decorative artists.”
