A new look at the Whickham branch of the North East’s biggest building society has been unwrapped in time for Christmas.
Newcastle Building Society has been working on creating enhanced facilities at the town’s Front Street for the last seven weeks as part of a continuing multi-million pound investment programme across the whole of its branch network.
The upgraded, open plan branch has now opened its doors, with an official reopening event set to follow on the 10 January 2019.
The refurbished 1,000 sq ft branch will provide Society customers with better access to services, information and advice in a open plan environment, as well as additional space for their transactions.
A small community space also forms part of the new design, which will provide a free space in which local people, groups and good causes can hold meetings and events.
Stuart Miller, customer director of Newcastle Building Society, said: “We’re continuing to invest in offering our members a modern branch network that sits right at the heart of their communities, and are very pleased to be able to reopen our doors to customers old and new in Whickham in time for Christmas.
“The Whickham team is looking forward to welcoming everyone into their improved branch, and we’re certain everyone will be impressed by what they see.”
