Thirsk-based Land Rover Defender specialist Twisted Automotive is launching its first ever range of one design specification vehicles at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Twisted famously bought the last remaining vehicles from the Defender production line 18 months ago and has created the Classic Twisted range to cater to growing customer demand.
While Twisted is known for tailoring vehicles specifically to buyers’ specifications, this is the first time in its 15-year history that the brand has created a drive-away range that can be bought and delivered within days.
Given the full Twisted treatment, the Classic Twisted has been modified to a high specification that has all of the key Twisted comfort, performance, and handling elements. Like all Twisted vehicles, the modifications passionately reflect its heritage and roots.
Its new range of Series 1 Classic Twisted vehicles will factor many of the most popular enhancements and features into one vehicle, which encapsulates founder and managing director Charles Fawcett’s vision of honouring the heritage and iconic design of the original Land Rover Defender.
Speaking about the launch, Twisted Automotive managing director Charles Fawcett said: “The new range of Classic Twisted vehicles has been created in response to market demand for a product that builds in the very best of what we do every time we build a bespoke Twisted.
“Ever since we bought the last of the Defender line we’ve been busy working out how to best protect their heritage and keep their spirit going for generations to come – and the Classic Twisted is our first step into cherishing these vehicles.
“The Classic Twisted range combines engineering excellence, a passion for performance, and unrivalled hand-detailing. It is made up of a selection of the last ever Defender vehicles that have been lovingly looked after since they rolled off the production line.
“As with all of our vehicles, our number one ambition is to make the iconic Defender better than it’s ever been before – and we’re exceptionally pleased with how this range has developed from concept to reality. The Classic Twisted is a celebration of the Land Rover Defender, true to the original, while seizing the spirit of the Anti-Ordinary.”
Upgrades and modifications to the Twisted Classic range include progressive suspension, engine performance, chassis protection, long life fixings, the brand new ‘Classic’ Twisted wheel, and unique billet door handles.
