The Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA) has hosted a glittering awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of the region’s Asian business community.

Celebrations took place at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford on Thursday evening, where hundreds of guests were present to enjoy delicious Asian fusion food, drink and a fashion show hosted by Janan Luxury Fashion, all whilst toasting the success of Asian businesses across Yorkshire.

Award winners included Janaid Yaqoob of Bradford-based The Car Empire for Retail Business of the Year, Razia Jogi of Switalksis solicitors for Professional of the Year and Chairman of the 88m Group Manni Hussain, winner of an Outstanding Contribution to Yorkshire Award.

Chairman of the Yorkshire Asian Business Association, Amarjit Singh said:
“It was a privilege to host our fourth annual celebration of Yorkshire’s Asian businesses at this very special evening in Bradford.

“YABA’s role is to encourage Asian businesses to grow and be part of the wider business community, and these awards are a sign of that.

“A huge congratulations to all the nominees and award winners.”

YABA has been championing regional Asian businesses on a regional, national and international level since its formation in 2014. The Asian business community makes a significant contribution, with a share of over 11% of new business Start-Ups nationally. In addition, according to research published by the CBI, The British Asian community generates around 10% of the country’s GDP despite making up only 6% of the population.
