£1 million Vault officially opens at iconic Liverpool landmark

Deputy Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Christine Banks officially opened Liverpool’s first safe deposit box facility last week.

Cllr Banks cut the ribbon alongside Liverpool Vaults co-founders Seamus Fahy and David Walsh.

Cllr Banks was given a tour of the vault, which includes surveillance technology such as seismic shock sensors, round-the-clock monitoring and biometric identification technology, as well as meeting Liverpool Vaults’ staff and learning more about the facility.

Local businesses and special guests were also in attendance for the launch, as guests got the opportunity to visit the underground vault and see some of the high-tech security features in action.

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Christine Banks said: “I am delighted to officially open Liverpool Vaults, the city’s first safe deposit box facility, especially in such an iconic location as the Royal Liver Building.

“Inward investment is a major contributor to Liverpool’s growth so it is fantastic to see a new business make the city their home, as well as providing job opportunities for local people. Congratulations to Liverpool Vaults on its new, innovative facility in the heart of the city.”

Liverpool Vaults offers 1,000 safe deposit lockers, protected by cutting edge security and sophisticated technology, which surpasses the standards set by banks.

The facility allows private individuals and businesses to safeguard their most valued possessions in a secure vault.

A £1 million investment by Liverpool Vaults has transformed the space in to a state-of-the-art purpose built safe deposit box facility.

Access to the high security vault will be granted through a navigation of personal identification, biometric scanner, customer code and digital photo recognition.

10 jobs have been created by the opening and this is expected to increase to 15 over the next six months.

Co-founder Séamus Fahy said: “It is great to officially launch Liverpool Vaults and mark our opening with esteemed guests and local businesses. The Liverpool City Region is a dynamic region and we saw real potential, and the demand for opening a new safe deposit box facility in the city.”

Co-founder David Walsh, added: “Thank you to the Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Christine Banks for joining us and helping us celebrate our official launch in Liverpool. This launch is just the beginning of our journey and we are very excited to welcome both companies and individuals who are looking to secure their valuables safely.”

The facility is run by Merrion Vaults, Europe’s largest independently owned safe deposit company. Since opening its first facility in Dublin five years ago, Merrion Vaults has expanded across England and Scotland, with vaults also now up and running in Glasgow and Newcastle.

Clients can visit the vault 7 days a week, with unlimited free access. The facility offers various box sizes to suit all client requirements, with rental from less than £3 per week and discounts available for long-term rentals.

The Liverpool Vault is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and 12 noon to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
