Taylor&Emmet family team retains Legal 500 top spot

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP has maintained its tier one position in The Legal 500 for family law services – one of only three firms in the region to achieve the ranking.

The team is described by the industry guide, published today, as for some, the “best firm in Sheffield for family law.”

Taylor&Emmet’s family law head, Michaela Heathcote, is said to approach her work “with rigorous intellect and profound empathy,” whilst her colleague and Legal Aid champion, Lucy Rodgers, is regarded as “very personable, professional and knowledgeable.”

In total, Taylor&Emmet is ranked in nine practice areas and has received personal recommendations for 17 solicitors, including head of employment law, Tom Draper, who is included in The Legal 500’s region-wide list of ‘next generation lawyers.’

Taylor&Emmet’s newest department, contentious probate, has achieved tier two status, after entering the guide last year in tier three. It is described as quickly establishing itself, for some, as “the best firm in Sheffield for contentious probate matters” and “exceptional” team leader, Alex Watkinson, is praised for his “lovely bedside manner.”

Tier two rankings have also been achieved by the firm’s employment law, commercial property and clinical negligence departments, with the latter described as having an “extremely thorough and user-friendly approach to both professional and lay clients.” The corporate and commercial, commercial litigation, personal injury and probate teams all made tier three in their respective categories.

Anthony Long, Taylor&Emmet’s chief executive, said: “We are hugely proud of our superb family law specialists whose compassion and attention to detail have cemented their place at the top of this category for a second consecutive year. We have performed exceptionally well in all key practice areas and I am pleased to see so many of our young partners earning such high praise.”
