Charity Brainwave is aiming to hit the target with North West businesses to support its 10th annual clay pigeon shoot

Children’s charity Brainwave is aiming to hit the target with (Manchester / North West) businesses as it looks for sponsors and teams to take part in its tenth annual clay pigeon shoot and dinner.

The Warrington-based charity has already signed-up sponsors including maintenance company NSS, Clogau Gold of Wales and financial services provider Investec, as it sets it sights on raising over £40,000 at the Cheshire clay shoot event in September.

Since the first clay pigeon shoot in 2009, more than 300 businesses have helped the event raise over £500,000 to support disabled children across the North West. Funds help provide children with disabilities with greater independence through improved mobility, communication skills, and learning potential.

The tenth anniversary clay pigeon shoot event takes place on Thursday 19th September at Colshaw Hall, Knutsford and features nine different clay shooting stands including the tricky GNATs Challenge, where clays are swapped for swooping and swerving model aircraft. There is also the famous shooting stars competition this year too.

The full-day event includes breakfast before a full safety briefing, mid-morning refreshments and a three-course lunch followed by a charity auction and raffle.

A range of corporate sponsorship packages are on offer including branding and naming of hotly contested awards such as ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Bottom Ducks’, the drinks reception and event programme.

Beyond sponsorship, businesses can also get involved with the option to register a team of four people for £900 per team.

Brainwave’s Carole Headley has been organising the event for many years, she comments: “We’re hoping the tenth anniversary of the clay pigeon shoot is our biggest and best-yet. It’s a fun event with great networking opportunities and you don’t need to have been clay pigeon shooting before, as we can provide instructors. A lot of people taking part just enjoy doing an activity that’s a little bit different and helping raise funds for a worthy cause.”
