Arquella, the UK’s leading provider of Care Technology and Software, has appointed Paul Thompson as Commercial Director as it enters a new phase of rapid growth and expansion. The appointment marks another step in Arquella’s evolution from an R&D-focused innovator into a scaled, SaaS-driven care-technology platform. Paul also joins Arquella’s Executive Board Team.
Paul brings over 20 years’ experience in medical-technology sales and leadership, with senior roles at GE Healthcare and TBS GB Telematic, where he led commercial teams delivering safety-critical solutions to care providers, diagnostics networks and the broader healthcare sector. At Arquella, he will lead go-to-market strategy, revenue execution and channel development as the company accelerates its UK-wide rollout.
Private-equity backers Traditum have worked to ensure the senior-management team evolves in step with the business. Founded in 2017, the company initially focused on developing its wireless nurse-call hardware. While hardware quality and reliability remain essential, it soon became clear that its internally designed software layer was central to unlocking long-term value. Today, Arquella’s platform forms the cornerstone of an intelligent ecosystem, integrating proprietary devices and third-party IoT components to support real-time decision-making and improve care outcomes.
As Arquella transitioned from R&D to commercial scale-up, the leadership team was reshaped to match this new strategic focus. Working with specialist head-hunters JW Markets, the organisation has continued to appointed leaders with the precise expertise required for this phase.
In February 2024, Richard Cammoile joined as Chief Financial Officer, bringing SaaS-finance expertise from Charles Taylor plc and Ensono. His arrival supported the success of the SaaS/Subscription model, embedding SaaS-specific KPIs and deeper financial partnering across operations and sales.
In April 2024, Mansoor Karatela became Chief Operating Officer, a new role separating day-to-day platform delivery from the CEO remit as scaling continued. With an IT-consulting background at KPMG, ISG and Brisbane Airport Corporation, Mansoor’s experience centres on scoping and managing large-scale IT-delivery projects. He now leads operations, installation, service and customer success, enabling Arquella to scale sustainably while maintaining high standards of care-sector service.
In March 2025, Michael Latimer took over as CEO, in a move that allows founder Paul Howell to focus on product strategy and execution. Michael was previously CEO at Isosec, a healthcare software business that was sold to Advance Healthcare in 2021 and before that he led the European business for TrueCommerce, a Private Equity backed provider of e-commerce solutions for Supply Chain.
Paul Thompson’s appointment is the fourth addition to the senior-management team since 2023, positioning Arquella to leverage its well-invested technology platform to underpin sales growth and quality of care.
Arquella’s transformation has been supported by long-term private-equity investment. Initial funding from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance in 2020 enabled early development of its wireless platform, followed in 2022 by a joint investment from Mercia and Traditum that has fuelled product enhancement, team expansion and wider market penetration.
“Arquella’s shift from development to delivery mode is now well underway. Paul’s appointment ensures the commercial side of the business is overseen by someone with deep sector knowledge and proven delivery experience. JW Markets has been a consistent partner in helping us bring in high-quality, equity-minded leaders who can scale the business,” said Iain Marlow, Head of Investments, Traditum.
