Carden Park hosts biggest cyber security event ‘in the country’

Maggie Philbin is this year's keynote speaker

Fresh air and wide-open spaces convinced Cyber Security Company Sapphire to leave the rat race behind and hold its 20th Annual Security Conference in Cheshire for the first time.

The 2-day event which will be attended by 170 cyber security professionals will be held at Cheshire Country Estate, Carden Park.

The keynote will be provided by Maggie Philbin OBE ex TV presenter of Tomorrows World and Swap shop and also founder of Teen Tech, an initiative to get more young people into STEM careers.

The event will include inspirational and informative industry speakers including Chief Information Security Officers from Nominet, Arqiva and Just Eat, talking about the mind of a hacker as well as over 20 leading vendors and peer to peer networking opportunities.

The conference will address issues such as diversity & risk, touching on issues such as how diverse the industry is becoming, the lack of resource and how to recruit more people not necessarily from a technical background, into the industry.

Conference Organiser Tina Deighton reveals “the event is aimed at providing valuable information and developing strategies to improve and future proof existing security processes in challenging times. All the major issues that impact on the industry will be covered ,including the changing role of a CISO, effective incident response strategies, ways to keep young people on track rather than allow them to become the victims of organised crime, as well as a fascinating insights into what the future holds.

The event originally started in 1999 as a small occasion for 30 people in the North East. It then moved around the country and has been held in Scotland for the last few years where it grew its reputation for sharing a wealth of information to security businesses.

Organiser Tina explains the move to Carden Park said, “Cities never stop, and we liked what the countryside offered in terms of a more relaxed yet productive environment where our delegates can be totally focussed. Carden Park offers great transport links to London and other major cities which was a big plus too.”

Events Director at Carden Park, Dan Gibson confirms, “we are seeing more large business events moving to rural locations and choosing Carden Park as their conference partner. This is great for us and it is great for Cheshire too.”

Carden Park recently completed a £200,000 refurbishment on one of its key event areas and the ‘Shooting Suite’ is now a state-of-the-art space with a purpose-built bar, mood lighting and LED screens.
