How to celebrate the festive season on Lake Windermere

As the nights start to roll in earlier and winter approaches, thoughts turn to the festive season. With historic Georgian architecture adorned with Christmas decorations, there is no better place to celebrate the upcoming festive season than Storrs Hall, set on the beautiful shores of Lake Windermere.

Nestled within 17 acres of landscaped grounds, Storrs Hall provides an effortless blend of 18th century history with the comforts of modern luxury. The Grade II Georgian Mansion offers 30 unique recently refurbished en-suite bedrooms with luxurious fittings and contemporary bathrooms. There is also a luxury boathouse for those looking to discover a warm and cosy lakeside experience, featuring a private hot-tub, fire-pit and alfresco dining.

Throughout the month of December, visitors can enjoy festive themed lunches and afternoon teas in the Two AA Rosette award-winning Temple Restaurant. For the ultimate festive escape in the Lake District, guests can celebrate the season with a special three-night stay at Storrs Hall, starting on Christmas Eve, with a Champagne reception upon arrival, followed by a sumptuous dinner and traditional carol concert.

On Christmas Day guests can sit back and enjoy the serene surroundings of the lake before indulging in a five-course feast, with Storrs Hall serving up fine British cuisine. Guests can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Status Lake District on Boxing Day, with a private cruise of Lake Windermere, boarding from Storrs Hall’s very own private jetty. On their return guests will enjoy a classic hand-bell concert before dinner.

The champagne will continue to flow to ring in the New Year. Storrs Hall is set to host a two-day house party commencing with a Champagne Reception on New Year’s Eve, followed by a gourmet dinner and live music. Guests can then gather on the terrace to gaze up at a spectacular firework display to welcome in 2018. New Year’s Day will be eased with a private cruise from Storrs Hall’s jetty, followed by a delightful afternoon tea that can be enjoyed in front of a crackling fire in the drawing room or library – all with views of Windermere and the Lake District fells beyond.

Celebrate Christmas at Storrs Hall with a three-night break from £565 per person or enjoy a two-night house party package at new year from £390 per person (based on two people sharing a room). A festive themed two-course lunch starts from £21.50 and a three-course lunch starts from £29.50. Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed for £24 per person.

On Christmas Day non-residents are also welcome to join the celebrations at Storrs Hall, and indulge in the five-course feast for £40 per child and £80 for adults, pre-booking is essential. Storrs Hall can also arrange Christmas vouchers for presents.
