Chambers guide praises Jones Myers ‘exemplary professional standards’

Best in class: from left partners Kate Banerjee, Andrew Fox, director Richard Peaker and partner Nicki Mitchell.

The ‘exemplary professional standards’ of niche family law firm Jones Myer have been lauded in Chambers UK legal guide where the firm has again retained its joint top tier ranking.

Covering Leeds, Bradford and surrounding areas, the 2020 edition praises the practice’s “exemplary professional standards, prompt response time, and transparency throughout,” in addition to its “well-balanced approach to all proceedings.”

Notable practitioners include the “phenomenal” Richard Peaker, head of the Financial Remedies Department, who is “measured, experienced and capable of dealing with cases with a high level of complexity”.

Founder Peter Jones is acknowledged as “very well known and respected” while Kate Banerjee, who leads the Children’s Team, is described as “very much the leading child law expert in Leeds” and has a “fantastic manner with clients.”

Also singled out is partner Nicki Mitchell, head of the practice’s York office, who is recognised and respected as “a thoughtful, careful and measured family lawyer with good client care skills”.

The approach of Collaborative family law expert Norman Taylor who “has a very calm nature and the ability to handle sensitive and difficult subjects with kindness and empathy” is also applauded.

The Chambers ranking comes just two weeks after Jones Myers also retained its joint top tier position in the Legal 500 UK guide.

Said Peter Jones: “To remain joint number 1 in both Chambers and Legal 500 for over two decades reflects the firm’s long-standing reputation for excellence and its exceptional lawyers.”

In a formative year, Close Brothers Asset Management has again included Jones Myers – which has offices in Leeds, Harrogate and York – in its Top Family Law Firms for 2019.
