Chinese bike-sharing scheme introduced to Manchester

hinese bike-sharing scheme Mobike introduced to Manchester as client of Manchester-based accountants and business advisors Beever and Struthers.

Booming Chinese start-up Mobike is introducing its app-based bike sharing service to the UK by launching in Manchester with expert support and advice from accountants and business advisors Beever and Struthers.

Already the world’s largest bike-sharing company based on app downloads, Mobike appointed the firm as its accountant thanks to Beever and Struthers being a member of HLB International, the worldwide network of independent accounting firms and business advisers.

Beever and Struthers then worked with Midas, Manchester’s inward investment agency, to advise Mobike on how to launch and establish the business in the UK.

Caroline Monk, partner with Beever and Struthers, established the relationship with Mobike and led a specialist team providing tailored advice on how best to establish the business in the UK by addressing key issues including business structure, company incorporation, payroll, employee benefits, VAT and corporation tax, reporting requirements and assurance options.

Beever and Struthers’ other Chinese clients include Beijing Construction Engineering Group (BCEGI), the state-owned developer providing the £800m Airport City scheme with Manchester Airports Group, Greater Manchester Pension Fund and construction firm Carillion plc and the £1bn, 24.5-acre Middlewood Locks mixed-use scheme being delivered with Fairbriar International, a joint venture of Scarborough International Properties, Singapore-based Metro Holdings and private Chinese property group Hualing.

Caroline said: “We joined HLB International to enhance our international presence and securing a prestigious client such as Mobike with all the environmental and job creating opportunities its arrival presents, proves the benefits of our membership of such a global organisation.”
