Continued expansion at Manchester based law firm

Mick Hewitt joins Glaisyers LLP as commercial property lawyer to its corporate division

Continuing its period of growth, Manchester based law firm, Glaisyers Solicitors LLP, has continued its strong start to the year with a new hire, welcoming commercial property lawyer, Mick Hewitt to its corporate division.

Having been a partner at DWF and Weightmans, Hewitt has been handling heavyweight rainmaking and property deals for 20 years. With experience of large-scale developments and corporate support in a variety of mergers and acquisitions, real estate finance, leisure and hospitality projects, he is ideally positioned to support the team across a diverse mix of commercial property transactions. In addition to the disciplines above, his new role also includes business development.

On his new position, Hewitt said: “The opportunity to join the team at Glaisyers appealed to me on a number of levels. Notwithstanding my 20 years’ experience in commercial property, I have hands on experience working in industry, international business startups, and construction in the UK, China, USA and Spain, which enables me to understand our clients’ expectations from the opposite end of the boardroom table. I feel this is a great asset to have and I am looking forward to working with the rest of the team providing clear, pragmatic and commercial advice and extending our new service offerings to our real estate clients.”

The firm has also seen further expansion in its property, corporate and IT teams with six new staff starting in the coming weeks. This supports the firm’s aim to increase headcount and develop talent to support higher value complex work.

These changes continue a period of growth for Glaisyers Solicitors LLP. Last December saw the full-service law firm, specialising in the SME market, acquired by a consortium of investors. Alongside ETL Global, an international network of professional service firms, former Kuits partners, David Jones and David Marlor, also invested and become Head of Litigation and Head of Property respectively, bringing their years of expertise to the firm.

Managing Partner Nick Johnson said: “Our long-term objective is to be a one stop resource for small to medium size enterprises and as such we are delighted to welcome Mick to the team to support our continued growth. His appointment and our continued investment in our people at Glaisyers demonstrates our commitment to ensuring we provide the best legal advice to SMEs across the North West and beyond.”

To accelerate the St James’s Square based firm’s expansion as a leading provider of legal and professional services to the SME market in the UK, the firm recently opened a second office in Mayfair, London. The firm expects its headcount to increase by over 25% in the next 12 months as it develops talent to deal with higher value complex work.
