Delifonseca Welcomes Merseyside Fundraisers As They Ride Into Liverpool

Delifonseca is set to greet Dockside’s butcher Callum Edge and army veteran Craig Lundberg as part of their charity tandem bike ride that will scale the length of the country.

To greet the Merseyside duo on the Liverpool leg of their journey, which stretches from Land’s End to John O’Groats, Delifonseca is pulling out all of the stops with a fundraising event on Saturday, June 15.

The pair will be taking to the pedals to raise vital funds for Blind Veterans UK and Vision Aid Overseas after Craig lost his eyesight whilst fighting in Iraq in 2007 with Delifonseca hoping to raise £1,000 on the day, all of which will be contributed to the cause.

Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said: “We’ve been busy planning for Craig and Callum’s arrival into Liverpool for weeks now and come rain or shine we’re hoping that people from across the region also make the journey to join us for what will be a fun few hours of entertainment, games and of course some delicious food all whilst raising vital funds to support Blind Veterans UK.

“Hosting this event is our way of showing our appreciation for everything these individuals have achieved. We’re incredibly proud of Callum, who is a long-standing member of the Delifonseca family, and Craig for undertaking this challenge which is certainly no easy feat.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to bring the entire family down to the venue on a Saturday morning and take part in some interactive activities such as our own competitive race, which will see guests battle it out to achieve the fastest time per mile on one of our static bikes. Those who like to think themselves as taste experts can guess the flavours in our Cheshire Farm Ice Cream ‘blind tasting’, whilst Jamie Fullerton from The Treatment Table will also be on hand to administer some much-needed sports massages to the team during their Delifonseca pit stop.”

On the day everyone who makes a £10 donation will be able to take away a pound of Edge & Son’s finest sausages as a thank you for their kind generosity, as well as be in with three chances to win in the raffle for one of Delifonseca’s famous hampers, brimming with hand-selected goodies from its award-winning food hall.

Community & Events Fundraising North West Manager for Blind Veterans UK Sian Thomas said: “The team at Blind Veterans is incredibly proud to partner up with Delifonseca to host this amazing event which will not only celebrate just how far Craig and Callum have made it on their route but first and foremost will help to raise awareness of the charity and hopefully boost their fundraising efforts.

“It seemed only fitting to celebrate at the dockside restaurant as both riders are from the local area and Delifonseca is a prominent and much-loved location across the region. We’re confident that together we can reach our ambitious target and give the boys the warm Liverpool welcome they deserve before continuing their cycle up to Scotland.”

Delifonseca’s fundraising event for The Blind Veterans and Vision Aid Overseas will take place at the Dockside restaurant on Saturday, June 15 between 11am and 1.30pm.
