Doncaster School Receives Mega Donation from Miller Homes Yorkshire

Teachers and students, from year 5 and 3 at Bessacarr Primary School receive £1,250 from Miller Homes community fund

A Doncaster primary school has received extra funds to help develop its outdoor play area.

The sum of £1,250 was awarded to Bessacarr Primary School as a result of a successful application to Community Fund, hosted by national housebuilder Miller Homes, which, twice a year, invites applications for funding from charities and community groups in the Yorkshire region.

“It’s amazing to see so many people applying to our Community Fund and for us to appreciate the variety of schools, groups and charities present in our communities that are all doing such wonderful things to support local people,” said Debbie Whittingham, Regional Sales Director, Miller Homes Yorkshire. “Our team carefully consider all applications but felt Bessacarr Primary School were worthy recipients on this occasion.”

The donation will help the school to develop its outdoor area to create a place where children can thrive, learn and enjoy outdoor play.

Mrs Briddick, Deputy Head Teacher, Bessacarr Primary School, commented; “This generous donation from Miller Homes is a welcome addition to our fundraising efforts to improve our outdoor area. Being outdoors is a key element of every child’s education and we look forward to continuing the delivery of our exciting plans.”

In this latest round of donations, a further £4,000 has been donated by Miller Homes to other charities across Yorkshire including another Doncaster based community facility, Yorkshire Main Community Centre which received £750 from the fund.

Applications are invited twice yearly and the next of the Miller Homes Community Fund will open in Spring 2026.
