Exciting new role for Altrincham’s Kay Johnson

Fast growing construction and development company, The McGoff Group, has appointed Altrincham’s Kay Johnson to the specially created role of project manager for its exciting new Market 41 and Back to the Garden Child Care concepts.

In her new position, Kay will support the client team from an operational perspective, helping to develop two sustainable new concepts that function seamlessly, with exceptional hospitality and service.

For Market 41, the Group’s innovative new build food hall in Urmston, she will work alongside the team from construction through to operation, handling enquiries from possible operators and assisting with recruitment and training.

She will be heavily involved in the selection of the new operators and the employee team and helping everyone settle in. Once open, she will help nurture operations at Market 41, ensuring that traders and the new staff members have everything that they need to deliver a superb customer experience that becomes a real talking point in the town.

For Back to the Garden, the Group’s new nursery brand, she will work alongside former kidsunlimited founders Stewart and Jeannie Pickering who have partnered with The McGoff Group to deliver the new scheme to create an industry-leading nursery offering that focuses on truly exceptional childcare and delicious locally-sourced seasonal food.

Kay’s background in hospitality and education, and her belief in the importance of educating young people to eat well and enjoy food from a really young age provides the foundations on which a true point of difference can be created where children have the opportunity to be fully involved with all aspects of their food from tasting, growing and serving at mealtimes.

Prior to taking on the new challenge, Kay spent five years creating and developing an industry leading hospitality offering for New Care, the care home operation that forms one of the McGoff Group’s other businesses. She was directly responsible for developing a hotel-style hospitality and service offering at six successful care homes across the UK before moving to this new role.

Delighted with her new position, Kay said: “I’m so proud of everything that we have achieved at New Care and am delighted to go back to my roots in hospitality and service with these new projects. Trafford is an area that I know well, and where I have spent much of my career, and I am passionate about delivering something that locals can be proud of.”

Group sales director at The McGoff Group, Paul Danks, said: “Kay is exactly the right person to support the delivery of these projects. I’m delighted that she’s accepted this new role and am confident that the hospitality and service offering at both Market 41 and Back to the Garden will be second to none.”

Kay lives in Altrincham with her partner Graham. She has one grown up daughter and two grandchildren. Prior to joining New Care and the McGoff Group, she was Head of Hospitality and Tourism at Trafford College and she has recently re-joined Hospitality Action, the industry group for people in hospitality.
