Fast-growing gym chain takes on city centre site in York

Inside an Ultra Flex Gym

The Ultra Flex gym and fitness chain is planning to open a fourth venue, this time located in the centre of York.

The business has taken a ten year lease on the former Topps Tiles premises on Layerthorpe which will be completely refurbished to provide a 11,000sq ft gym complex including a main gym, studio, café, physiotherapy facilities and barber shop. The new York gym will feature a large range of free weights as well as cardio and resistance machines, a 25m prowler track, nutritional supplements and sun beds.

Expected to open for business in May, the York venue will complement the popular Ultra Flex gyms in Leeds, Normanton and Rotherham.

Manager of Ultra Flex York, Mike Motanov, said: “Layerthorpe is a great location, close to the city centre while offering lots of parking for our members. The premises also gives us plenty of space to feature a huge range of high quality exercise kit from all over the world which is proving so popular at our other gyms.

“The business has an ongoing relationship with Clarion, we trust them to give good advice and they were as efficient as ever in helping us to secure this lease.”

Grace Allison of Clarion’s property team advised Ultra Flex.
