MacComms in the running to secure regional award

A female founder of a West Yorkshire-based start-up PR and marketing firm has been shortlisted for a regional award.

Ellie MacDonald, managing director of MacComms, has been recognised in the business category of the Yorkshire Women of Achievement awards.

The awards, now in their 30th year, are run by Sue Ryder to raise awareness of the charity whilst recognising key females in the region. A lunch-time award ceremony will see hundreds descend on the Royal Armouries, Leeds, on Friday 20 May.

Ellie, who moved from Leeds to Huddersfield to attend University in the town, set up MacComms just one year ago following her eight years’ experience in the sector, having previously worked as marketing manager for the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and a PR agency.

Having experienced 60% growth over the year, MacComms is now recruiting for more employees to cater for growing demand. Putting much of her continued success down to the support she has received from the Leeds Entrepreneurial Spark programme, Ellie has ambitious plans to continue to grow the business.

Ellie MacDonald, comments:

“To be recognised as a leading female in the region in such a short space of time I’ve been running my business is a huge achievement. I feel honoured to be listed alongside some impressive women in business in our region and I think it is an exciting time for female entrepreneurs.”
