A Liverpool-based sport organisation on a mission to transform school sport has expanded its coaching team after its most successful year to date.

LSSP is a not-for-profit Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that is dedicated to providing all children and young people with the best possible PE, school sport and physical activity experiences.

Since establishing in 2000, LSSP has worked with over 120,000 young people and currently engages 121 schools, now including 25 specialist sport coaches placed in and supporting 50 primary schools across the Liverpool City Region.

Using a unique PE framework which includes a focus on life skill development, the team of passionate, experienced and qualified practitioners work hard to inspire all young people to be the best they can be, whilst enjoying the benefits of being physically active and leading a healthy lifestyle.

LSSP now has exciting growth plans for the year ahead, with a specialist team in place to help even more schools enhance their PE and sport provision.

Jimmy McGinn, partnership manager at LSSP, said: “Our mission is to be at the forefront of change and give schools and children the best possible opportunities in PE, school sport and physical activity, now and right in to the future.

“Over our 19 years of business we’ve been fortunate to work with some brilliant schools to raise the profile and impact of PE; improve health & wellbeing and make sport accessible to all. We are delighted to expand our team and help more schools on their LSSP journey.”

LSSP works with schools on a broad range of services, including training for school staff, expert coaching for extra-curricular clubs, in school support through PE specialists, opportunities for sports leadership and volunteering and high quality sports competitions.

LSSP’s team of specialist coaches and sports apprentices – who work alongside school staff to develop teachers’ capacity to teach PE – have also been recognised by Ofsted.

Through the help and guidance of LSSP, Spinney Avenue CE Primary in Widnes has transformed its sport provision.

Emma Perkins, Assistant Head of KS2 at Spinney Avenue CE Primary, said: “The support from LSSP has been invaluable.
“The termly meetings with our partnership manager has been a superb resource to help plan the next priorities for our school. The quality of our sport coach, provided through LSSP, is also fantastic.”

Jimmy added: “Ultimately, we want to see children across the whole city region participating and enjoying sport.

“We’ve seen first-hand the benefits of physical activity – from bringing people together, improving mental health, developing leadership skills and contributing to lifelong learning. We are very excited for the year ahead.”
