Wakefield-based construction firm Harris CM has been appointed to design and build a new £4 million growing facility on an 11 acre site at Garrick Farm near Howden in East Yorkshire for Hughes, a mushroom processing business from Northern Ireland.
Work on the project will also include new offices and a board room, and the first facility on the site is set to be operational by next month, with 70 jobs created initially and a further 30 employed by the end of the year.
Hughes is investing in the new facilities to capitalise on the demand for further homegrown produce. The company is based in Co. Tyrone in Northern Ireland and was founded in 1964.

Harris CM recently completed its fourth project for extensions and alterations to Britvic Soft Drink’s production plants, the latest one in Leeds, and has also successfully completed the refurbishment of factories for Coca Cola in Kent and Northumberland.
