Head Office Bake Sale Is The Icing On The Cake For Barratt Manchester

Staff at Barratt Manchester’s Head Office recently put their baking skills to the test by selling their signature bakes to colleagues, in order to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Alzheimer’s Society is a dementia research charity helping people across the country overcome the challenges they face when living with dementia.

The bake sale, which was held on ‘Cupcake Day’ (Thursday 14th June), saw staff members bring their cakes to the table in exchange for generous donations to the charity.

The bake sale was organised by Corinne Doyle, a Design Engineer who knows first-hand how important the charity is for those who need it.

Corinne said, “We arranged the Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day 2018 as it’s a fun way for both bakers and cake lovers to get involved in raising money for such a good cause.

“Most people have first-hand experience with a family member or friend suffering from the disease and we know it can be physically and mentally challenging for all involved. We wanted to raise as much money as possible to support the amazing work they do in research and caring for people suffering from dementia.

“Our first Cupcake Day at Barratt Manchester was a resounding success and we are so pleased with how much we raised and the support we received from all our fellow colleagues. We can’t wait to hold the next one and hope we have inspired other people to get involved next year and be united against dementia.”

The bake sale raised a grand total of £169 which will be used by the charity to meet the needs of people affected by dementia, inspire change and advance research.

Michaela Lancaster, Sales Director at Barratt Manchester said, “It was a pleasure to take part in raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society, a cause which is dear to a number of our staff members. It was a great opportunity to tuck into some cake, knowing that we were supporting the charity as well.”
