Hessle-based law firm Hamers Solicitors has stepped up to the crease with a three-year sponsorship deal with Hessle Cricket Club, perfectly timed for the first ball of the new cricket season.

Founded in 1838, Hessle Cricket Club is one of the oldest clubs in Yorkshire and has played a significant part in the local community for nearly two centuries. The club has been based on Livingstone Road since 1977, and has three senior Men’s teams as well as a Women’s team and a vibrant Junior academy.

Hamers Solicitors is one of Hull’s leading law firms, providing both personal and business legal services. Hamers is a long-term supporter of Hull charities, most notably Humber Rescue, one of the UK’s busiest independent lifeboat stations, and the Sailor’s Children’s Society, which helps children and families from seafaring backgrounds across the country.

Paul Worthy, Partner and Head of Company Commercial at Hamers, says: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the local cricket club. We’re big fans of cricket and sport, and it’s an honour to be able to support Hessle Cricket Club who play such an important part in our community.”

Joe Hudson, Hessle Cricket Club Captain, says: “As a small amateur cricket club, the Hamers sponsorship is invaluable. The investment will help to create more opportunities for people from all different backgrounds to come down and play cricket.”

The first year of Hamers investment has already helped cover the senior Men’s team with Hamers-branded cricket shirts. Beyond this, the Hamers investment will help secure the future of the club, be it for necessary equipment such as a new scoreboard or grounds equipment, through to helping to provide more opportunities for young cricketers, as well as the recently-established Women’s team too.

Steve Cooper, Hessle Cricket Club Secretary, says: “Partnering with Hamers Solicitors is a great step forward for our club’s growth and development. It will enable us to lay the foundations for our continued progress, and help us to amplify our efforts in enhancing our facilities, ensuring that our club thrives for years to come!”
