Leeds-based entrepreneur and endurance athlete attempts Guinness World Record

The founder of a Leeds-based health and fitness firm will attempt to break a Guinness World Record, for the most miles run on a treadmill in 12 hours, on 31st May 2018.

Managing director of AllShapeUp, James Hesling will attempt to set the world record between 7am and 7pm at Trinity Leeds shopping centre.

James’ record breaking run will raise money for Youth Sport Trust, a national children’s charity which aims to build a brighter future for all young people through the power of sport, physical activity and PE.

Hesling plans to fundraise £25K for the charity, which has been working with schools to promote movement, exercise and sport since 1994. The money raised will enable the Youth Sport Trust to promote physical activity, raise aspirations and create access to sport for all abilities through a range of programmes and initiatives.

The current world record for the most miles run on a treadmill in 12 hours was achieved by Ronnie Delzer in August 2016; he ran 89.38 miles in Texas, USA.

James, who has been passionate about exercise and sport his whole life, established his health and fitness business, AllShapeUp in 2016.

AllShapeUp is a digital platform built for individuals to help them become fitter, healthier and more confident through bespoke workout programmes and original recipes. Designed for all ages and abilities, AllShapeUp allows members to exercise from the comfort of their own home. James’ vision is to make exercise accessible to all.

AllShapeUp, celebrated its first birthday in business last year and currently has 400 members.
Commenting on the Guinness World Record attempt, James Hesling said:

“I am incredibly excited for this opportunity. I’m always on the lookout for my next challenge and I think this will be the most difficult yet.

“At AllShapeUp we’re passionate about helping people to become fitter and healthier. It was important to us to choose a charity that we felt we could have the most impact. Child obesity is at its highest and the work Youth Sport Trust conducts is critical in combatting this issue.

“The day itself is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to celebrate with the AllShapeUp team. I’m now counting down the days until I step on that treadmill!”

Vicky Gutteridge, Fundraising Manager at the Youth Sport Trust, said: “We are all inspired by James and his tough world record challenge.

“We are very grateful to James for not only raising funds, but for raising the awareness of the growing problems associated with childhood obesity. This will enable us to reach more children and families with initiatives like our Healthy Movers programme.”
