Mixd expands with Leeds move.

Web design agency Mixd is expanding its team and moving to new offices in Leeds. The company will create five new jobs spanning design and development.

Mixd was founded in Harrogate 14 years ago and has grown to become a team of 12. It is moving to Leeds to support its recruitment activity and further expansion.

Commenting on the move, Phil Shackleton, digital director at Mixd said: “Leeds is the digital hub of the North and we aim to attract the best talent the region has to offer. We do a lot of work in the NHS and public sector, and it will be great to be close to NHS Digital in the city.”

Mixd is a respected user experience digital agency specialising in information design for the NHS and other public sectors and has completed projects with numerous NHS Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Recent projects have included web design and build for the University of Birmingham, North Yorkshire Police, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, and South Kesteven District Council.

The agency is moving to the creative hub at the Leeming Building in Leeds. It plans to move to larger premises in the next 12 months.

Shackleton said: “As we continue to grow, we are servicing an increasingly national client base, and the transport links Leeds has to offer are vital. We have a built a strong reputation for rigorous research and stand out UX design.

“We are investing in our team to ensure we continue to lead the industry with a focus on Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), an emerging web technology, pioneered by Google. PWAs blur the line between websites and mobile apps to enhance the user experience and increase engagement.”

Mixd runs an annual intensive three-day course for up to 10 students called Work the Web. It has close links with Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds that help to attract over 100 applications from across the UK and Europe.
