Why the emphasis on “community spirit”? The disappearance of community spirit been in the news a lot of the last half decade or so. One recent report announced that 70% of UK residents now admit they don’t know who lives next door, and only 6% say community spirit is strong in their area.
The survey highlighted people’s perceptions of life in the UK, with 83 per cent agreeing that it was a ‘kinder place’ when their parents were their age.
