NHS Investment in Orkney sees Innova Win Two Hoist Contracts

Innova Care Concepts is today announcing that it has been awarded two contracts to supply hoisting systems to Balfour Hospital and St Peter’s House Care Home in Orkney, Scotland.

Following the company’s successful bid for overhead ceiling hoist systems at Midland Metropolitan Hospital worth £850,000, these latest deals have cemented Innova’s position as a trusted supplier to the NHS.

With the contracts amounting to a combined value of £177,000, the healthcare equipment company will be providing and installing 45 ceiling track hoist systems across both sites with an array of hoist units. This includes coverage in bariatric suites, operating theatres, and over a Changing Place facility.

Bob Oliver, hoisting specialist at Innova said:

“It’s important to remember that not all areas of the UK have easy access to high-quality healthcare, it’s great to see the NHS investing in more remote locations like Orkney. It’s certainly brought up a new challenge for us in getting our equipment and installation teams to Orkney and back!

“We liaised with the clients for a long time before being awarded the contracts. We held many consultation sessions right from the beginning to discuss their needs and how the hoist systems would be used. The systems we’re supplying will actually be the only hoists on the islands, which is quite extraordinary!”

The Wetherby-based company were first introduced to the projects by Keppie and Young & Gault Architects who are working on the sites. Innova’s unique products and ability to deliver high-quality service as far as Orkney led to it winning both contracts.

Innova’s CEO, Tom Hulbert, said:

“At Innova, we’re always pushing ourselves to go the extra step and reach farther than before – and we’ve done that quite literally with these Orkney projects. It will be great to see our hoists and tracking in both facilities, and our team looks forward to working in Orkney.”

Innova will begin work on Balfour Hospital this month, with the project due to finish early next year. They will work on St Peter’s House Care Home at the same time, beginning their work at the end of summer with a completion date of summer 2019.
