Property entrepreneur leads revolution in retirement living

Graham Richardson, best known as founder of Alderley-Edge based Metier Property Group, is carving out a new solution for the retirement living market with his Arbor Living Group.

Arbor Living builds luxury single storey homes exclusively for the over-55s and their latest development is on the site of the former Willowpool Garden Centre in Lymm.

He realised there was a gap in the market for older people wishing to downsize, as a downturn in the number of bungalows being built is leaving them struggling for somewhere to go.

Arbor Living’s solution is high-end park homes on landscaped sites that are ideal for those nearing retirement age.

The new development in Lymm is made up of 13 two-bedroom park homes spread over four acres and opened following Arbor’s successful launch of the concept in Lincolnshire.

Richardson said: “There are hardly any bungalows being built and for a lot of people flats are just not practical – we realised the whole market is in need of a new direction.

“Our luxury homes are like nothing else on the market; they provide a unique solution to a problem that is only going to get worse due to the ageing population.”

Arbor Living has four more developments in the pipeline, and Richardson is confident of a strong performance in 2018.

“The Lincoln development has proved extremely popular with the majority of the homes already sold, and we are confident that Lymm will go the same way,” he said.

“The site is just down the road from us, and it is really exciting to bring these innovative homes to our local community

“These properties provide a whole new way of looking at downsizing, and one which we believe represents the future of retirement living.”
