Refurbished landmark Sheffield tower now 90% occupied by businesses

Property development company, MCR Property Group, has announced that Sheffield city centre landmark tower, St James House, is now 90% occupied. This follows the completion of £2.5million of refurbishment works on the 11 storey building just five months ago.

Leading tech firm, Techdept Ltd, is the latest Sheffield business to take up residence in the 57,709 sq. ft. block on Vicar Lane. The company, which was the world’s first tech special ops team, joins fellow recent arrivals, The Great Escape Game Ltd and Monarch Education Ltd.

As part of renovation works, MCR Property Group overhauled the building’s reception, common areas and WCs, creating a light and inviting space for its occupants. All windows in the building were replaced with double glazed aluminium units, and vacant suites were refurbished to a high standard to enable high speed connectivity.

Chris Taylor, Asset Manager at Manchester-based MCR Property Group, said: “Sheffield is a buzzing Northern Powerhouse city, with a rapidly expanding business sector in need of high quality office space.

“It’s brilliant to see this landmark tower now at 90% occupancy, and we welcome Techdept to the building. Judging by the interest we’ve already had, I’m sure St James House will soon be home to even more growing Sheffield businesses.”

“Our team is loving being in the City Centre,” said Techdept Managing Director Dan Kirby, “plus we now have room to grow to meet our ambitious plans.”

St James House is situated in the Cathedral Quarter of Sheffield, a short distance from the A57 Broad Lane (Ring Road) and a ten minute walk from Sheffield train station. The building has 40 parking spaces. There are still suites available for rent, which range from 800 sq. ft. to 4,000 sq. ft.

MCR Property Group specialises in injecting new life into commercial buildings, creating high quality work spaces for UK businesses.
