RG Corporate Finance (RGCF) has announced the appointment of rising star Tom Cosby to further grow its successful Newcastle-based corporate finance advisory team.

The firm has seen substantial growth in its Corporate Finance team throughout 2020 with a number of new additions, and Tom becomes the latest welcome addition to the team, which was recently ranked by Experian as one of the most active Corporate Finance advisory firms in the North East during the first nine months of the year.

Tom, who graduated from Newcastle University with a First-Class degree in Accounting and Finance, originally joined RG in 2018 and spent his training contract working within the Accounting, Audit and Corporate Finance teams supporting a broad range of SMEs, operating in a variety of sectors across the region.

Having completed his training contract, Tom joins the RGCF team on a permanent basis at a particularly buoyant time as it has recently successfully delivered a diverse hattrick of transactions, in different sectors, within a two-week period.

RGCF advised the leadership team at Newcastle-based recruitment group Nigel Wright on the management buy-out that saw them take a majority stake in the company from its equity owners. The firm has also advised the shareholders of Sunderland-based telecoms business Nice Network Ltd on sale of the business to LDC-backed Onecom.

RGCF continues to support clients across the UK with the third of the trio of transactions taking place outside of the North East, where RGCF advised Midlands-based Service Response Group on its recent acquisition of CPL FM Ltd.

Carl Swansbury, Partner and Head of Corporate Finance at RGCF, said: “Tom is a talented and forward-thinking individual who will bring fresh ideas and energy to RGCF. We are growing, and with a very strong pipeline, Tom will have the opportunity to help advise a range of privately owned companies, corporates, financial investors and debt funds and management teams on a variety of transactions across the UK.

“RGCF is sector agnostic, therefore we support a wide range of clients in different industries, particularly in sectors that have not been as impacted by the pandemic as others, and we are agile in identifying businesses to advise.

Tom Cosby, Corporate Finance Executive said: “I can’t wait to get started with the Corporate Finance team at RG. I have been lucky to have been presented with a unique opportunity to work within a variety of service lines within the firm during my training contract, but I have quickly developed a passion for corporate finance and want to pursue a career as a business advisor.

“I am particularly impressed by RG’s vision to become the leading independent advisory firm in the region, and I am excited to be part of a firm with such ambition and one that is experiencing a period of significant growth.”
