As official sponsor of the 2018 Chinese New Year Festival in Leeds, Victoria Gate Casino is ringing in the ‘Year of the Dog’ with a packed schedule of celebrations.
The festival at Leeds Town Hall will transform the venue into a hub of dancing, music, food, and martial arts on Sunday 18th February.
Victoria Gate Casino is also celebrating the ‘Year of the Dog’ by hosting a Chinese Lion Dance on the 19th February – a custom that sees artists in spectacular lion costumes visit local venues to perform to beating drums, cymbals and gongs. The tradition is believed to bring good luck and fortune.
The super casino will also be giving away over £10,000 worth of prizes between from now until 19th February, with daily draws at 8pm, 10pm and midnight for gaming chips, culminating in a final prize draw from midnight on the 19th February. Prizes include a vintage Rolex watch, Louis Vuitton handbags, and £500 in gaming chips. You must be in the casino to be in with a chance!
At the final prize draw, visitors will also be treated to an evening of fun and games, as well as a visit from the ‘God of Fortune’, who will be handing out traditional red envelopes to wish them good luck for the coming year.
Guests can also enjoy a complimentary Chinese buffet with authentic dishes including Lou Hon Ji, a selection of crisp vegetables and fungus such as lotus root and wood ears stir fried until tender then tossed with deep fried tofu in a rich vegetable gravy.
