Surge in business leads to expansion for Cheshire architectural practice

Base Architecture & Design is expanding its Chester office as part of it ongoing growth

A firm of architects is undergoing a major expansion of its business as it celebrates a successful first year in Chester.

Base Architecture & Design is doubling the size of its offices in Christleton Road and expanding its team to cater for an increasing demand for its services across Cheshire, the North West and North Wales.

Since Base launched its Cheshire office a year ago, it has seen a significant uplift in its business in the North West and is currently working on more than 40 projects. The firm celebrated 15 years in business this October and is heading towards a record year.

It has appointed architect Rachel O’Hare to the Chester based team with an architectural technologist joining next month.

Rachel, who is RIBA qualified, has experience ranging from large commercial projects including the concept design for the £11.5m Beacon Centre at Blackburn College to smaller, bespoke housing developments in Kensington & Chelsea, London.

Base began life in Shropshire in 2003 and works on residential and commercial schemes.

It is renowned for its innovative and contemporary approach to design including its ‘Grand Design’ style builds and success with Paragraph 79 (formerly Paragraph 55) applications that allows homes of exceptional architectural value to be built in open countryside.

Director Harry Reece said the firm’s first year in Cheshire had exceeded all expectations.

“We established the Chester office so we could better serve our clients in Cheshire, the North West and Wales. It has been an incredibly successful move as we have seen a marked rise in enquiries and commissions.

“The extra space in our expanded office and the addition of talented new architects to our team will support the growth we’ve already experienced and give us a head start with any future expansion.

“The Cheshire and North West business community has been incredibly welcoming and we have continued to grow our networks, make new contacts and received some very exciting commissions in our first year. We’re looking forward to many more here in Cheshire.”
