A talent for knitting helps Scunthorpe babies

Goldcrest House visit the Neonatal intensive care unit at Scunthorpe Hospital to present a very special gift of hand knitted hats to the nurses who care for sick and preterm babies in the district.

Handmade by service users at Goldcrest House during a weekly therapeutic craft session, over 50 knitted hats were presented to assist with helping the small and poorly babies keep their temperature within normal limits.

Judith Braithwaite from the Neonatal Unit says: “Thank you very much for the effort and kindness you have shown it is very much appreciated. The hats will be extremely useful in assisting with the special care these babies require, and because there are so many hats we will share them with the hospital’s maternity unit ensuring all our babies benefit.”

Ralph Parish, registered manager at Goldcrest House says: “We are very proud of all of our service users who helped with creating and presenting these very special hats. It is amazing to think that knitting has captured the creativity and resulted in something so positive.”
