The Rise Of The Staycation: Independent Report Predicts Another Profitable Year For The Caravan Industry

The UKCCA 2019 Economic Benefits Report for campsites and holiday parks has found that the industry generates £9.3bn in visitor spending as the UK touring caravan market continues to grow.

The independent report, titled ‘Pitching the Value’, is the first time holiday parks and campsites across the UK have been analysed to show the value of the sector to the nation’s economy.

An increasing number of British holidaymakers are choosing to stay in the UK for weekend breaks and summer holidays. 39% of UK adults have been on a camping or caravanning holiday in the past three years and it’s no surprise as to why; the current political climate has weakened the pound, making it more expensive than ever for the British family to holiday abroad.

Families, friends and couples are rediscovering the traditional British touring caravan holiday and, as a result, second-hand touring caravans are becoming increasingly popular.

Sam Cohen of Samco Caravans has seen this trend first-hand.

“Used touring caravans from as far back as the 70s and 80s are making a massive resurgence. These old-school models are now in high demand, due to the increased interest in the ‘glamping’ phenomenon.”

Caravans are a cost-effective investment that allow you the freedom to tour the beautiful UK landscape at your leisure, without the constraints of everyday life. Caravans are a home from home, ideal for dog lovers and for those who want a relaxing escape without the hassle of airport queues.

With the touring caravan economy set for another bumper year in 2020, the benefits of the staycation for the nation’s economy and family wellbeing have never been more apparent.

Samco Caravans are a family-run business and supply a range of handpicked 4 berth touring caravans for sale throughout the UK and abroad.
