Williams MINI Share ‘Big Love’ Spirit with Charity Virtual Bike Ride for Maggie’s

The "Big Love" MINi at Williams automotive retail centre highlighting the Bike For Maggies's undraising weekend

Staff and customers at Williams MINI are invited to show their pedal power on exercise bikes located in Williams MINI showrooms across the North West to raise vital funds for Maggie’s, everyone’s home of cancer care.

The virtual bike ride over the weekend of 28-30 July is part of a pledge made by Williams to raise money for Maggie’s, to help generate funds to continue their invaluable work supporting those going through cancer and all their families.

The challenge will see the Williams retail centres, in Liverpool, Manchester, Bolton, Rochdale, and Stockport compete against one another to see which team can clock the most miles on the static bikes over the dedicated charity weekend. The virtual bike ride, alongside a range of other fun activities, is part of the MINI Big Love project- an initiative to inspire and connect communities through shared experiences – from the iconic car brand.

In the last few years Williams has raised over £35,000 for Maggie’s, and this year the fundraising continues, with the team contributing towards a goal of over £16,000, which equates to £23 from each member of the over 700-strong team.

“Raising money for Maggie’s is an important way for Williams to celebrate the MINI Big Love project to create happiness from this great iconic brand,” said Alexandra Cook, development director at Williams Group. “Our virtual bike ride over the weekend will deliver on our pledge to support this community-based charity and deliver lots of fun for our staff and customers who come and support us.”

Robin Muir, centre head at Maggie’s Manchester, said, “As part of their ongoing commitment to Maggie’s, the Williams team are constantly coming up with fun, creative ways to raise funds for us. I’ve no doubt the virtual bike rides will be the centrepiece in their automotive retail centres, and they will encourage staff and customers to join in. We appreciate everything their staff and customers do for us and really enjoy their approach to supporting our work in the most imaginative ways possible.”

Maggie’s provides free, emotional, practical, and financial support to anyone affected by cancer, in a warm and relaxed environment. Maggie’s offers a range of support, including support groups, 1-1 psychological support and activities such as tai chi and yoga to help with rehabilitation and wellbeing. Maggie’s is funded entirely by donations and relies on the support of people like you.
