York-based holidays company nominated for Yorkshire Business Award

Golfing tour operator Glencor Golf Holidays have been nominated for a 2016 Yorkshire Business Award in the Family Business category, all thanks to their ongoing digital innovation.

Started by Peter Renton, both of his sons Corrie and Glen have now come on-board to help their ‘golf mad’ father push the business from a digital perspective. Peter Renton has said “online is where the majority of our growth has come from, due to the changing role technology has played in travel.”

They have attributed their digital growth to a number of process improvements, including ones to the website and a new booking system, “both of which completely improve the customer experience and reduce the amount of work.”

However it is not all digital for Glencor Golf. They still pride themselves in retaining existing business through their heavily personalised service, and the unique advantages of having such a close knit team; “As a family that is co-located in the same working area we are able to have a brief discussion about an idea and if we agree, rapidly test it because there is no overly bureaucratic process to work through”

The Family Business Of The Year award, sponsored by The City Council Of York, is a category open to all established Businesses if they fall into criteria of successfully moving their forward in the preceding 12 months.

Having experience that can inspire other family businesses is also key; something which the team at Glencor Golf are keen to do, offering this advice to others “If we were to pass advice to other family businesses, it is to continue to stay agile for as long as you can”.
