York insurance business partners with University of Reading

The University of Reading has partnered with York based The Insurance Emporium to provide insurance for its students.

As part of the partnership, the new insurance company will be selling flexible cover to students, giving them peace of mind with the knowledge that both they and their belongings are protected while they focus on their studies.

Despite only officially launching at the start of 2017, The Insurance Emporium has already become the exclusive provider of student insurance for the University of Reading. It is a feat for such a new brand to gain a partnership with an institution that boasts such alumni as comedian Julian Barratt, musician Jamie Cullum, former BBC World Service Director Richard Sambrook and former Parliamentary Minister Hugh Robertson.

The Insurance Emporium is providing information about its cover to the university’s 15,000 students, through various advertising materials and by attending the university’s events. Most recently, the company attended the University of Reading’s Freshers’ Fayre, where Emporium team members spoke to students and provided fun, interactive games for them to play.

Chief Executive Officer of The Insurance Emporium, Francis Martin said: “The fact that we have become the official student insurance provider for the University of Reading so soon after our launch is an example of how forward thinking we are as a brand. The insurance industry is often very two-dimensional and grey but our product design and communication strategy ensures that we appeal to such diverse groups as students.”

The insurer’s Student Insurance product was launched in August to coincide with the start of the new university year. It offers Pick ‘N’ Mix policies, which allows people to buy protection according to their needs and budget; giving students and their parents a flexible way to build cover.
