Yorkshire Businesses Look for Region’s Inspirational People

Two Yorkshire businesses are joining forces in a bid to find the region’s most passionate and inspirational individuals.

Totally Tipi and 3 Acres Inn and Restaurant are calling on local people to nominate those that make them happy as part of the 100 Smiles campaign – an initiative which is looking for people who go out of their way to bring happiness to others.

From volunteers to scout leaders and teachers to foster parents, the 100 Smiles campaign wants to hear from you. Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to put a smile on other people’s faces? That’s the only requirement!

Nominations for 100 Smiles are open and, after a vigorous judging process, the top 100 will be named Yorkshire’s Happy Makers.

Those in the 100, along with a guest, will be invited to a night of celebration in October – a very special tipi party which will take place on the stunning 3 Acres grounds.

The initiative is being led by Totally Tipi, Yorkshire’s premier supplier happiness though their giant tip events.

Totally Tipi was inspired to create the campaign as both directors are passionate about rewarding good causes.

Jay Ashton, director at Totally Tipi explains: “My previous connections with the Teenage Cancer Trust, the community-changing Permaculture Association and most recently EnRich- a charity formed in memory of friend and colleague Richard Tolson- opened my eyes to the generosity that exists around us”

“I’ve seen first-hand the work and endless hours devoted to causes; it can be quite thankless and there aren’t many opportunities to unwind. Whilst these people don’t do what they do to gain recognition, we think a party to celebrate what they do and give them a chance to let their hair down is much needed.”

Laura Drury, director at Totally Tipi adds: “The work of volunteers helped me when I suffered from post-natal depression, so this is something Jay and I have wanted to do for a while.”

“There’s a lot of good going on which often goes unnoticed. We want people to sing from the rooftops about those that inspire them, that go the extra mile and always make others smile.”

“It’s well known the people of Yorkshire are generous and caring but they’re also self-effacing – so we need people to nominate those people who go that extra mile in whatever they do.”

Nominations are open until the end of August; the entry form can be found at: bit.ly/100smilesnomination
