Yorkshire start-up firm celebrates quadruple growth and award shortlisting

A Yorkshire-based financial management firm is celebrating a 400% increase in revenue and a successful award shortlisting as the firm celebrates its third year of trading.

Having experienced significant year-on-year growth, Sowerby Bridge-based Mellor Financial has been named in the advisor of the year category at the inaugural Yorkshire Accountancy Awards 2018.

Founded in 2015, Mellor Financial Management works with a range of businesses across industries including manufacturing, professional services, retail, hospitality and events.

The firm celebrated its third year in business in quarter one of 2018 and has retained its original client base since inception.

The Yorkshire Accountancy Awards has been developed to celebrate the achievements of local small, mid-tier and large firms operating in the financial sector. Finalists will be invited to attend a glittering awards ceremony which will be held on Thursday 10th May 2018 at New Dock Hall in Leeds.

Mellor Financial Management was established by Martin Mellor, a senior finance management specialist with more than 20 years’ industry experience.

Prior to starting his business, Martin undertook senior roles in the finance sector, most recently with Lloyds Banking Group, where he served as the head of planning, analysis & reward in the UK Wealth and private banking Division.

Martin has also led the development and delivery of a series of training sessions that seek to maximise the understanding of financial management among business owners and their teams. The sessions have included training international clients, one to one sessions as well as programmes conducted in collaboration with BPP Professional Development and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Plans for the future include the continuation of training events across Yorkshire and the north west, with particular emphasis on executive coaching and public courses.

Commenting on the award shortlisting and company growth, Martin said:

“I am delighted to have been recognised for hard-work and determination over the last three years. The award shortlisting is testament to the company’s achievements and our significant growth since inception. We’re very much looking forward to joining the other shortlisted candidates at the awards.”
