Expansion for Yorkshire-based planning experts

A Yorkshire planning consultancy is set to expand on the back of new business and tackle a rising workload in various sectors across the region.

DPA Planning owner Sam Dewar plans to double turnover to £200,000 over the next six months and recruit additional specialists after seeing a surge in demand for his firm’s expertise and experience.

This comes on the back of success for the Selby firm in securing planning permission for a number of high profile commercial developments and new build residential schemes across the region.

Plans for a significant power generating wind turbine at the Aunt Bessie’s factory in Hull are among the applications where DPA Planning has secured planning permission.

The development of 28 new houses on Hemsworth Lane in Wakefield have also been given the green light following advice provided the firm.

Sam Dewar, who is a qualified town planner, set-up independently-owned DPA Planning with his wife and business partner, Jessica, in 2015, and is targeting further work from small and medium house builders, looking to develop local residential sites.

Success is being driven on the back of DPA Planning’s single source project management services, unique council planning experience and a fast growing reputation for resolving complex planning issues.

New work underway includes a residential project for 130 houses on Goose Cote Lane in Bradford, the redevelopment of the Woodhouse Inn public house in Bassetlaw and 14 apartments in Chapel Allerton, Leeds.

As part of ambitious growth plans, Sam Dewar will be looking to expand his design planning and architecture technology capacity with the addition of new starters and is currently recruiting for several roles.

With clients across residential, waste, commercial, energy infrastructure and leisure among other sectors, Sam Dewar says the company has never been busier as he moves forward to help clients open up new opportunities where possible.

He said that the firm has more than a 95% success rate in securing planning permission for its clients, and added:

“The business has grown rapidly since we started in 2015, and we’re now involved in planning developments across Yorkshire and the wider North East. We have never been busier and can see continued strong growth across all our activities.

“We’re privileged to work with progressive clients in a variety of different sectors as we guide them through development projects of all types and scale in an increasingly complex and changing planning process.

“From the likes of securing permission for Aunt Bessie’s point of source wind turbine to handling complex schemes in the Green Belt, we continue to advise on some of Yorkshire most significant new developments.”

DPA Planning provides services and advice to enable clients to meet town planning needs and requirements. These include turnkey services, involvement part way through a planning application, and planning enforcement support.
