Halewood primary school pupil wins Bellway design competition

Halewood’s Phoebe Tennant is the lucky winner of housebuilder Bellway’s recent Design a Flag competition.

The five-year-old Holy Family Catholic Primary pupil, and her three-year-old sister Isabelle from Holy Family Nursery, both entered the exciting drawing competition to design an eye catching new flag for display at Bellway’s two local residential developments – Halewood Oaks and Plummers Meadow.

Both entries caught the eye of the judges, with Isabelle’s trio of rainbows praised for its use of bold, bright colours, but it was Phoebe’s beautiful sketch of a lovely family home in the sunshine that pipped all others to the post and won first place and a £200 Smyths voucher.

As part of her prize, Phoebe’s design has been made up into a large flag and is now on display at the entrances to both Bellway developments, Halewood Oaks on Baileys Lane and Plummers Meadow on Greensbridge Lane.

Before the flag was installed, Bellway site manager Adam Anderton and sales advisor Samantha Maher joined Holy Family Catholic Primary Headteacher Mr Quigley to surprise Phoebe by presenting her with the flag in front of parents, teachers and other pupils in the school’s fun Friday assembly.

Phoebe’s mum Natalie said: “Phoebe did not believe me when I told her she had won the competition and would be able to take her sister to Smyths to choose some toys. She was over the moon! It’s going to be so much fun seeing her drawing on the giant flag each time we drive past the Bellway developments. She has been telling all of our family and friends to look out for it too!”

Headteacher Mr Quigley added: “We’re so proud of Phoebe for taking part in the Bellway competition and pleased that her wonderful drawing has been chosen as the winner. It was lovely to reveal the flag in assembly and for the whole school to give her a cheer.”

Sales director at Bellway North West, Jenny Bell, said: “It was hard to choose an overall winner but Phoebe’s entry stood out for us as it embodied many of our key values around home and family. It brought to life the communities that we are creating at Halewood Oaks and Plummers Meadow and it’s great to have it up on the flagpoles for all to see.”

Located less than half an hour’s drive away from Liverpool city centre, Bellway’s Plummers Meadow development on Greensbridge Lane and Halewood Oaks development on Baileys Lane, offer a superb mix of high quality new build homes to suit a wide variety of purchasers including first time buyers, couples and families.
