Bellway Homes starts work on historical site in Oldham

To celebrate the start of construction at Lancaster Gardens, in Failsworth, Bellway Homes is delighted to mark the milestone with Councillor Jean Streeton, the Leader of Oldham Council, who joined Louise Chamberlain on site for the occasion.

The site, which is located off Broadway in Failsworth, is 13.7 acres in size and will be transformed by the housebuilder into a highly desirable residential development.

Bellway has worked closely with the Council on this scheme, with both parties delighted to be delivering much needed executive homes in Oldham.

Bellway will build a range of 148 three and four bedroom homes at Lancaster Gardens, offering a mix of semi-detached and detached houses. The development also incorporates the Grade II listed Failsworth Lodge building, more commonly referred to as the ‘Lancaster Club’, which will be converted into one and two bedroom apartments.

Councillor Jean Streeton, comments: “Lancaster Gardens is a prestigious development in Oldham and we are very proud of Bellway Homes’ plans. The provision of 148 executive homes is very much welcomed.

“Furthermore, the conversion of the Lancaster Club has been carefully considered, ensuring the historical building remains protected yet enhanced, and the aesthetics of the site and its heritage retained.

“It is excellent news that work is now underway. The Council is thrilled to have a well-established company such as Bellway Homes invest in the Borough, not only delivering new build homes but also creating local jobs.”

Louise Chamberlain, Sales Director at Bellway Homes, comments: “We warmly welcome Councillor Jean Streeton, the Leader of Oldham Council, to Lancaster Gardens and are grateful to have her support as we mark the start of build on site.

“Lancaster Gardens is an exciting development; it is the combination of a charming conversion project of a building that dates back to 1770 with the delivery of well-designed, high quality new build homes.”

Close to Oldham town centre and just four miles from Manchester city centre, with excellent transport links, Lancaster Gardens is a picturesque tree-lined development steeped in local history.
