Carter Towler to assist multi award-winning Mattress Online with clicks and mortar growth plans

W Denis wins planning approval to create flagship Leeds HQ

Carter Towler has been appointed by Mattress Online to assist the leading independent retailer with its store expansion programme.

Tasked with finding retail outlets in prime locations across the North, Carter Towler has just concluded its first successful lease deal on behalf of the progressive Rotherham based company.

Commenting on the appointment, Carter Towler’s head of retail, Pete Bradbury said: “This really is quite a coup for us! Mattress Online is perfectly poised for growth, it has had a remarkable 12 months. The business has not only significantly increased its market share but has won several national, regional and trade awards. It is now expanding its operations by adding more physical stores to its highly successful e-commerce strategy. The company currently has outlets in Sheffield, Skipton and Rotherham.

“We have agreed a 10-year lease deal on a 6,000 sq ft unit at Sprotbrough Retail Park, Doncaster and we are in negotiations for another in the Yorkshire region.”

Founded 20 years ago, Mattress Online has grown from its humble beginnings, storing mattresses in a garage, to become one of the UK’s top 100 fastest-growing companies with an annual turnover of £25m. It holds the largest stock of mattresses and beds in the country and has been praised for its innovative approach to e-commerce and customer service standards.

Steve Adams, Mattress Online’s CEO added: “We are delighted to be working with Carter Towler’s excellent retail team. It’s important for us to work with a property partner who understands our business needs and is very well connected.

“We want to find outlets of the right size but with the flexibility to add additional floor space as required, and in the best possible locations of course. That means optimising roadside visibility and distribution links. Early indications are looking very promising indeed.”

Carter Towler, which was established 75 years ago, has offices in Leeds and York and employs 50 people. It is acknowledged as one of the most commercially active property companies in the North. Over the past 12 months the company has been involved in over 350 commercial, industrial and investment property deals and currently manages 5,000 properties for its clients nationwide.
