Chesterfield’s BG Engineering Celebrates Double Award Shortlist Success

BG Engineering shortlisted for two regional accolades

BG Engineering, a leading subcontractor for precision machined components, is celebrating after reaching the final of two regional business awards.

The company, based in Holmewood Chesterfield, has made it onto the shortlists for the Excellence in Manufacturing Award at both the Sheffield Business Awards and the Derbyshire Times Business Awards.

BG Engineering is a finalist alongside just one other business in the Derbyshire awards and five in the Sheffield awards. Both accolades will be presented to the company that demonstrates a modern, efficient and innovative approach to manufacturing.

Antony Holmes, Managing Director of BG Engineering said: “We’re extremely proud to have reached the finals of these awards. To be recognised for the positive effects our business has on both the Sheffield and Derbyshire regions is testament to the skills and expertise of our team. We are looking forward to the finals in November, if we win it would be the perfect finish to a successful 30th anniversary year.”
The winners of the Derbyshire awards will be announced on 15th November during a ceremony at Chesterfield College and the Sheffield Awards dinner takes place at Ponds Forge on 29th November.

From its beginnings in 1988, BG Engineering has become one of the region’s leading sole CNC machining company, with more than 30 staff including four apprentices and 18 CNC machines, boasting customers located across the UK and Europe.

Over the past 30 years, the company has elevated itself into one of the leading precision engineers in the region. Through strategic and customer driven investment BG Engineering has built relationships with some of the largest global OEM’s in the energy industry.

BG Engineering prides itself on its approach to quality and inspection. The company is ISO 9001 accredited and is focused on continual improvement by having its own in-house inspection department to ensure that all parts reach the customer ‘right first time.’
BG Engineering is also currently working towards securing AS9100 accreditation to become an approved aerospace supplier.

Cooper Brown Enterprises (CBE), owned by Marie Cooper and Chris Brown, invested in BG Engineering in 2017. BG Engineering, which is also co-owned by Managing Director, Anthony Holmes, then acquired Pentag Gears and Oilfield Equipment in May 2018. In August 2017, CBE also acquired a controlling stake in NiTEC Engineering Ltd and Spire Laboratories.
