Competitive companies wanted for Leeds Mencap’s corporate challenge

Leeds Mencap is looking for company staff with a competitive streak to take on its revamped corporate challenge this spring.

Now in its sixth year, the fundraising challenge returns with a new name – Accumulator Challenge – and a new format which the charity hopes will appeal to members of Leeds’ business community.

Companies who want to demonstrate their creative and entrepreneurial skills simply have to raise as much money as possible from an initial £30 stake during a 30-day period in either March or April.

Teams need to be made up of at least four people and larger companies can even pit several teams against each other if they fancy some friendly workplace rivalry.

In previous years the challenge has seen teams organising curry lunches, office tuck shops, sporting tournaments, quiz nights and many other wacky events to raise cash for Leeds Mencap – an independent charity which helps to improve the lives and opportunities of children and young adults with learning disabilities across the city.

Leeds-based law firm, Winston Solicitors LLP, has taken part in four of the previous five corporate challenges and was crowned the winner for the second time last year.

Managing Partner Jonathan Winston said: “Taking part in the challenge raises much-needed funds for local people with learning disabilities and gives us a fantastic opportunity to improve team-building skills and fulfil corporate social responsibility aims with our staff.

“Taking part in the challenge is an annual highlight for our company. As reigning champions, we look forward to defending our title this year!”
