Durham law firm expands again with two new appointments

Abi Zuk and Charlotte Excel

Swinburne Maddison, one of Durham’s pre-eminent law firms, has announced the arrival of two new appointments as part of its continued expansion strategy. By creating these latest positions, Swinburne Maddison has increased its capacity in both its litigation and commercial property teams.

Abi Zuk, who joins Swinburne Maddison with over four years post qualified experience, has taken her place in the firm’s award-winning Dispute Resolution team. Specialising in commercial litigation matters, Abi brings with her a wealth of experience gained from action for both commercial and individual clients.

Speaking about her new role, Abi said: “It is a very exciting time to join Swinburne Maddison which is a forward-thinking law firm with an excellent, diverse client base and a growing reputation both locally and nationally. I hope to use my experience to help develop the commercial litigation side of the business and continue to expand the firm’s already impressive client base.”

The firm also welcomes the recently qualified solicitor Charlotte Excell, who has joined Swinburne Maddison’s reputable commercial property team.

Speaking about her opportunity to join the award-winning law firm, Charlotte said: “I have always been aware of the firm and have followed its growth with interest as it developed its excellent reputation within the North East. I hope to add to the already fantastic name the commercial property team has.”

Victoria Walton, Partner and head of the Commercial Property team said: “We are delighted to welcome both Abi and Charlotte and pleased to be adding two Durham locals to the team. I have every confidence that their experience and knowledge will bring further strength and depth to the business. It is a very exciting time at Swinburne Maddison with many opportunities developing through both new and existing clients.”

As part of the expansion strategy, Swinburne Maddison took sole occupancy of its 10,000 sq ft office at Aykley Heads in Durham last year and has since invested over half a million pounds in transforming the space to create a stylish open plan working environment. With its continued recruitment drive, Swinburne Maddison is creating an environment that thrives on team spirit, as new starters and experienced staff are able to work together and collaborate in an open plan office.
