Fashion Fiesta: Taking to the catwalk for Leeds charities

Fashion Fiesta

An annual fashion show, which sees upcoming fashion designers from across the North of England showcasing their latest creations whilst raising money for non-profits, is taking place in Leeds for the first time in its four-year history.

Fashion Fiesta will be held on 4 October at aql’s historic Salem Chapel on Hunslet Road. All funds raised through the event will benefit local charities, Simon on the Streets and PEERS Yorkshire.

The event, which is organised by Rachel Hatfield, director at Shoo Social Media, is in its fourth year and continues to grow rapidly, becoming an unmissable fixture on the Yorkshire fashion calendar. This year promises to be the biggest and brightest show in the event’s history as it makes its debut in Leeds.

Event organiser, Rachel Hatfield commented:

“Leeds has a long and proud association with fashion and textiles and is also a hub for some of the country’s most innovative and talented designers. It is the perfect home for Fashion Fiesta 2018”

“We are delighted that aql have so generously provided their stunning Salem Chapel as a venue for the event, we have secured an impressive line-up of designers and are looking forward to what should be a fantastic evening celebrating new talent across the region.”

Celebrating entrepreneurial spirit, the event will see prizes awarded to the most talented designers, makeup artists and models. Judges will include industry experts such as Stephanie Smith, fashion editor at the Yorkshire Post and Angela Riches of H&N Magazine.

Providing the opportunity for upcoming and aspiring independent fashion designers to display their collections and connect with leading local businesses, the event will also raise funds for the local charities.

Rachel added:

“We’re supporting two fantastic local charities this year, Simon on the Streets and PEERS Yorkshire. Both charities carry out vital work in Leeds, we’re hoping to top last years fundraising total of more than £3000”

Louise Lapish, chair of the trustees at Simon on the Streets said:

“We are proud to be one of the chosen charities for Fashion Fiesta 2018.

“I have enjoyed seeing the continued growth and success of the event and we’re delighted to be involved. The funds raised will ensure that we can continue to reach out to entrenched rough sleepers and the rootless across Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield providing emotional support for their complex needs. We look forward to being a part of this event!”
